Hello January 2021!

Welcome January 2021 (I think!) Needless to say we are all glad to see the end of 2020 and enough said about that. Nor am I going to go on about New Year's resolutions and self improvement plans. Yes. I could lose a few pounds and drink less wine but what fun is that?

Since there will be no trips to sunny locations or adventures to parts unknown (for obvious reasons), my strategy for getting through the winter is to seek out simple little adventures that bring me joy. Kind of like Marie Kondo's philosophy of only keeping articles in your closet that "bring you joy". So, the question is; what will bring this "joy" my way? What do I love to do most and how do I find inspiration and new adventures close to home?

Number one of course, is staying connected with family and friends even if they are not close to home (thank goodness for technology, but even a little snail mail wouldn't hurt). I am fortunate to have some great friends who enjoy outdoor adventures as much as I do so I'm sure there will be some snowy winter "joy" in the next few months. Most of all though, I know myself well enough to know that I am a "maker" and there in lies the joy! I am not particularly original and I am not by any means a perfectionist ...... but I do love to make things.

Adventures in Making #1: - House Plants

So, on this snowy January day I am repotting my Christmas succulent arrangements and giving them some much needed light by upping my grow light game. I am also assessing my house plant collection and determining how to nurture them through the winter and of course how to incorporate them into my home decor.

I found some great inspiration in two books that I picked up at the library by Baylor Chapman; Decorating With Plants and The Plant Recipe Book.

As the storm continues outside ..... I continue to "make" new arrangements, repot, plant new cuttings and enJOY  my houseplant adventure! Stay tuned!
