Staying Inspired

Another Covid winter has me desperately seeking out inspiration to help me fill my idea box.

Idea Box = drawing, painting, crafts, houseplants, gardening, knitting, travel dreaming/planning

If my "idea box" is full then I can relax because I know that whenever I am bored or in need of distraction I have something to rely on.

The lovely paperwhites (above) took just three short weeks to bloom and there are still more blossoms to come! On January 9th they looked like this!

I bought these bulbs in the fall and stored them in a paper bag in my "wine cellar" (aka a cool dark place). When I took them out there were sprouts pointing every which way, but not to fear ... they eventually "saw the light" and pointed straight up. It was so nice to watch the growth each day!

Instagram etc.

I am a great fan of Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube etc. A couple of my favorites, that I follow on Instagram are Urban Sketchers and Claus Dalby. Urban Sketchers is a world wide organization of sketching enthusiasts who, as a group go out in their communities and sketch. I love seeing drawings from Urban Sketcher chapters all over the world. There is actually a chapter in Fredericton (an hour away) that I attended once a couple of years ago. Below is a link to the Dublin USK group displaying some of their drawings. I hope to join them when I finally make my trip to Ireland, maybe this fall??

Clause Dalby's Spring Containers

Claus Dalby is a Scandinavian gardener/floral designer and his posts feature beautiful flowers in containers. He also shares posts from other designers and gardeners that are full of great ideas.
I got one of them last week that inspired me to wade through the snow to my garden shed and get some Virginia Creeper to create the heart shape below. Thought it might be nice for Valentine's Day!

So here's to staying inspired!
